Big news: Mississippi State and Oklahoma State will kick off the 2013 football season together in Houston next August.
The game is part of an ESPN creation called the Texas Kick Off Classic and will be played in Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans.
You can find the full story on the match-up of SEC and Big XII teams over at HailState.com, and MSU Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin took to Twitter today to express his delight in the season-opening and nationally-recognizable contest.
Of note, Stricklin said the Bulldogs will still have seven home games in 2013, so the kick-off classic won’t take away from MSU’s home schedule.
Stricklin also said he’s excited to expand MSU’s footprint into the state of Texas, noting a large alumni base in the Lone Star State.
Key info on the game: MSU has been given an allotment of 10,500 tickets, ranging in cost from $45 to $125.
