Billboards go up to celebrate MSU first rounders

For the first time in Mississippi State history, the school had first round picks in the NFL, MLB and NBA drafts in the same year. Starting with defensive tackle Fletcher Cox being picked by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Draft, continuing with pitcher Chris Stratton getting drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the MLB Draft and concluding with the Philadelphia 76ers trading for forward Arnett Moultrie last night in the NBA Draft, MSU was the only school in the country this year to have first round picks in each of the three major drafts.

As a part of their now well-known – and widely-seen – billboard campaign across Mississippi, the MSU Athletic Department will post this billboard featuring the line “OUR STATE IS FIRST” in five different locations throughout the Magnolia State, including Meridian, Jackson, Columbus and Tupelo.

Stratton and Cox are both Mississippi natives and Moultrie is from nearby Memphis, Tenn.
